THE VENUS WITH SOCKS

Three figurines were found in a tomb to the right after the entrance. It was not the eldest tomb, but it had to be special - it contained four graves, out of which three had figurines joining the remains - two Venus figurines and one Kouros.

Yet, it is not completely clear if the two figurines representing women were actually wearing some kind of socks or pants. They are not sculpted in the same way, so it is hard to tell whether this particular one is simply shown to have strong bodily hair on her calves.

None of them are wearing anything else, so it makes us question was their shown, potential clothing just worn during some sort of ceremony. It was no doubt a status symbol - a piece woven to make walking comfortable for the leader of the community, perhaps.

The time that separates those two figurines is just a century, so it could have shown leadership passing from one tribe to another - or a new era for descendants.

Her hair is down - it is long and obviously straight.

This figurine is 8 300 years old and 9 centimeters tall.
