THE FAMISHED VENUS

One of the first figurines to be unearthed, the "Famished Venus" grabbed attention even as just fragments of once a truly story-telling, complete clay figurine.

It is one of the best examples of how women may have looked for the most of the year; they were active and muscular, surviving on scarce resources.

It was oddly made without arms whatsoever, unlike all other figurines who's arms were either broken off, worn out, made shorter not to be broken off or simply engraved on the sides of the bodies.

It is considered to be the most vulgar Venus, but also one of the saddest - it is the last figurine that has been made in the cave, indicating that the people who lived there died, possibly famished.

It is 14.3 centimeters tall and made about 7 600 B.C.
