Terrarium 2020

"Stone" houses - recycled paper with (very little amount of) glue shaped on different rocks and left to dry.

My work for one of the subject in the semester is made from scraps, as I have no approach to enough clay at the moment, or any other material. This is a preview of the final result - land art photos (along with the houses) that can create discomfort, but to some can represent satisfaction provided by solitude, empty spaces and silence.

They show 'houses' inspired by minimalist habitats from Mesopotamia, huts from Africa and 'architecture' known through YouTube, often created in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.

They represent isolation and their size (as if it is for insects) and degradable material optimistically suggest that we are incredibly small if compared to the Earth and that the huge pollution we have made is nothing compared to regenerative power of the planet, which we had witnessed in the early phase of the quarantine.

They are basically casts of stones, therefore a parody of the traditional building in stone here (in Dalmatia). Also, they interpret Mesopotamia's (which could be called the cradle of culture, therefore suggesting this might be a birth of a new civilization) beehive houses.

Casts of stone disguise into habitat-like wrecks, still offering a warm shelter in warm atmosphere photos.
