VENUS FIGURINES OF
PENINSULA PELJEŠAC
What were the mystical figurines, the voluptuous women of paleolithic who could barely bear resemblance to most of the women of that time? Were they representing deities, or were they just mirrors for the girls? Were they an embodiment of the memory of the women men loved and missed, or an item of simple worship?

Installation unites over 250 pieces of plaster sculptures; casts of tools - their exact copies which trap their shape, but shed the ability to be used. Work explores Baudrillard's concept of simulacrums and simulation, and refers to Kafka's "Metamorphosis". All those pieces create a bed, which seemingly floats, lingers appearing in dim light.

The bed, which should provide comfort and rest, becomes a symbol of the cycle of work that never stops or rests; the bed which, too, looses it's meaning.
